Did anyone have additional thoughts about the journalistic doc we watched on Sat. and our conversation with Clay? What did you think about the interviews he got? If you have questions about the film or for Clay in general, post them here and we'll see if he'll respond.

Sometimes showing the viewpoint of the less sympathetic side can be challenging. I was impressed by the fairness and dignity of the interviews with the farmers since we are somewhat poised to see them as "the bad guys." Although some of their comments were reprehensible, they were treated with dignity. A perhaps unintended result was that the one farmer who had spent money on housing for his workers looked like a saint!
I may be able to present my project proposal this week. I'll keep you posted, Joy.
It has to do with the "story behind the story" so it would be helpful if you would listen to it:

After class I went straight to one of the early vote locations so I could cast my ballot in this year's election. I must confess that after watching Clay's piece and then discovering that the two state officials interviewed in the film were up for re-election, I certainly didn't have any problem deciding how to vote in those two particular races :-)
I would like to present my project proposal tomorrow to save myself from spending next week working it to death! I will thank you today for listening to the NPR story:

My presentation will be more meaningful if you've heard the broadcast. It's only 4 minutes long but since we have only 5 minutes to present our proposals playing it in class wouldn't be ideal.
Thank you!
Jennie
